The launch of the James Webb Space Telescope with the Ariane 5 rocket, which has been delayed several times, is scheduled for December 24, the US Space Agency (NASA) and Arianespace announced today.

“The JWST space telescope will open on 24 December at 9.20 am. local time in Kuru, a space base in French Guiana, ”the company said.

JWST, a very complex engineering gem, will be the largest and most powerful telescope ever launched into space. It was built in the United States under the leadership of NASA with the help of the European and Canadian space agencies.

The telescope will explore the phases of the cosmos with great precision, from the first period of the universe to the creation of the first galaxies.

It will be placed in an orbit around the Sun, 1.5 million kilometers from Earth.
